We’ll help you determine if vanlife aligns with your goals and guide you in choosing the right van—covering key factors like models, odometer readings, age, and pricing considerations. Planning and designing your conversion are critical, and we’ll walk you through the process, highlighting common pitfalls to avoid. Lastly, we delve into project management, sharing practical tips to save both time and money during your van conversion.

Lesson 2: Metalwork, Insulation, Woodwork

In our second lesson, we roll up our sleeves and get hands-on with the core elements of your van conversion: Metalwork, insulation, and woodwork. We guide you through the installation of essential components like solar panels, fans, awnings, and inlets. You will learn all about insulation – how it works, the best materials, common pitfalls, and how to install it on your floor, walls, and ceiling. Finally, we immerse ourselves in woodwork, teaching you the skills to craft a cozy bed, functional kitchen unit, ample storage, and all the essentials for a comfortable life on the road.

Lesson 3: Electrics

In our third lesson, we’re diving into a comprehensive masterclass on campervan electrics. From battery systems and the intricacies of AC and DC electrics to understanding charging mechanisms like solar power, split charging, and shore power, this session is a deep dive into the heart of your van’s power. We’ll guide you through the process of installing all your appliances, covering every detail from wiring to fusing. Lesson 4: Plumbing

In our fourth and final lesson, we plunge into the essential realm of plumbing, covering both water and gas systems. Learn the ins and outs of installing an LPG system to power your stove, blow heater, water heater, oven, or fridge. You will learn about the current regulatory requirements for DIY gas installations in motorhomes, ensuring you’re well-versed in safety standards. Shifting gears to campervan water systems, we’ll explore a spectrum from the ultra-simple to the more intricate setups. Discover the secrets of getting running water to your taps and find out how to install a heated shower in your van.
